Les Vallons Maraîchers inc. is an organic farming venture founded by Jacques Blain and Josée Gaudet in 1996 and located in the superb, rolling landscape of Compton, 30 km south of Sherbrooke in the Eastern Townships. |

|
From 30 acres in its beginnings, Les Vallons Maraîchers inc. now farms 80 acres of various vegetables that are all certified organic, out of a total of 240 acres of farmable land. Its main products are chiefly destined for the wholesale market and include asparagus, beets, carrots, cabbage, kale, winter squash and parsnips. Jacques and Josée also grow many varieties of vegetables to supply the regional market.
Les Vallons Maraîchers inc. exports 50% of its produce to the United States and markets the other 50% in Canada and especially Quebec through wholesalers, CSA farms and other groups that offer vegetable baskets. The company is committed to supplying the regional market via grocery stores, greengrocers, restaurants, farm stands and Sherbrooke’s Marché de la Gare.
The venture would not be possible without our dedicated and persevering employees, who work hard to supply healthy, delicious, quality produce.
Les Vallons Maraîchers inc. has earned a number of distinctions including the 2008 Excel Prize granted by the Coaticook MRC in the agriculture category, the 2009 Ordre du mérite du commerce de detail (retail trade order of merit), and finalist status at the 2009 Eastern Townships’ Gala Reconnaissance (recognition gala) in the agricultural company category. The farm can also boast the people’s choice award, which it won on the occasion of the Coaticook MRC’s 25th Excel gala, in the agricultural category.
The family business Les Vallons Maraîchers inc. is proud to market its products under the Symbiosis brand name, of which it is a founding member.
Vegetables from Les Vallons Maraîchers inc. are a real treat, with each bite evoking the bounty of the earth, human farming efforts, and loving care! |
